Welcome to all our players, sponsors, supporters and volunteers for season 2017.
I would firstly like to thank Steve Maguire for his efforts as President over the last two years and assure our members that I will continue to take the Club forward in 2017.
The Club performed well on the field in 2016 with all teams making finals except for A grade and Sunday U/14’s. The U/18’s led by Shaun Ellitson played off in the grand final which was an exceptional effort considering the team was not settled and had to provide players to the senior teams throughout the year, this speaks well for the future of the Club going forward. I would like to congratulate Ben Peters on winning the SFL Mail Medal for U/18’s and Harry Spacie for coming runner up in the SFL Mail Medal for U/14’s missing out by one vote.
The commitment of the Executive , the Management Committee and the dedicated volunteers on game day are what makes this Club great and we are the envy of Clubs in the SFL. I would encourage everyone to get involved and help out when asked to or better still offer to help where you can. The Club runs on volunteers and if we can spread the load it makes it easier for all involved.
Through the guidance of Ben Coleman as the A grade/Club Coach and supporting coaches from the other teams through to Sub Juniors the Club looks set to have another great season in 2017. I would like to thank Belinda Howden for getting the girls pilot program up and running in 2016 and hope that we have continued success in this area in 2017. Our aim is to increase numbers so that we can field teams in all grades from girls through to a ladies senior team in 2017, this will be the growth area for our Club in the immediate future.
The success of the Club in the future will lay in the commitment of us all to the players, support staff, trainers and committee.
The Club has come a long way in the last few years but there are many challenges ahead of us in the future, so lets all work together to drive this great Club forward.
