Hello Life Members, Members, Sponsors, Supporters & Friends of HVFC,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with the Happy Valley Football Club this Season 2023.

Thank you to our Major Sponsors Steve Turner from Lonsdale paints & Joe Maiorana from Harcourts Tagni Real Estate. For decades of sponsoring the club, along with all our other sponsors we couldn’t do it without you thank you!

ON FIELD

Another busy season for the club with 24 teams across many different ages, with 6 senior teams includes Masters, 6 Junior teams, 12 sub-Jnr, Auskick & Valley kick programs.

Men’s Teams: Our 3 Senior Men’s teams, A & B grade men’s teams made it to finals A’s going out in 1ST week against Morphett Vale. Todd Margititch & the B grade playing group to make a Grand final but unfortunately going down to Flagstaff hill.  C grade after a slow start to the season, started to regain some momentum late but, with a good player group emerging mid to late season hopefully good signs for next year.

Women’s teams: Div 1 Adelaide Footy League team. Started the season with new coach Michelle O’Brien (Chooky) With many new players coming to the club & the base returning from last season, The season by the way of results certainly was not what the group/Club was expecting with only a couple of wins late, to finish bottom of the table. With the unfortunate prospect of being relegated to Div 2, which is now apparent. Women’s Div 1 Reserves Had a positive season on field with a strong season to make finals. Credit to coach Jo Cooke & all the girls involved.

Junior Boys: all teams played a great brand of footy throughout the year to make finals, but all bowing out in the early stages, but there is some really exciting things coming for the Junior program with many of our U17.5’s going up to play Snr footy. Across the A, B & C grades

Junior Girls: U17’s had a great season with many of the girls having had played together for several years. Which resulted in a place in the Grand final v Christies beach but going down by 3 goals on a big ground at South Adelaide.  Under 14 team had a year of development & learning which by the end of the season they were all starting to gel together. But fell short of the finals

Congratulations to all of the players that got to represent the club and play some form of representative football this year, special mention to Jacinda Schunselaar on Making State u18 girls team, Also Lachie Hamilton, Ben Barrett & Sebastian Oliver who won the state league club U18 championship with South Adelaide.

Thanks to all our Coaches, Game Day support, Trainers, Players across all grades as without you the club wouldn’t be what it is, thank you,

We farewell Guy Ridgway, Men’s A grade coach for the past 5 years, who has steadied the senior playing group from when he arrived at HVFC in 2019 Thank you Guy. With this the Club has appointed Andrew Cook as the club’s new men’s A grade coach. We welcome you & your Family to the club. He comes to us from McLaren District F.C where he coached a successful B Grade men’s team.

Also, Michelle O’Brien Div 1 women’s coach after 1 year of coaching here, HVFC club has decided to start fresh with a new SNR coach in 2024. Wade Phillips, who returns to us from his playing days.
